Trama
Nel 1949, una scrittrice newyorkese, Helene Hanff, entra in corrispondenza con Frank Doel, libraio londinese specializzato in libri classici di seconda mano. Per lettera tra i due cresce un'amicizia profonda. Lui è sposato e Helene diventa amica della famiglia senza mai conoscerne i componenti. Soltanto nel 1969 va a Londra, dopo che Frank è morto e trova solo il negozio abbandonato.
