Trama
Liverpool, 1960. Stella, 16 anni, orfana di padre e abbandonata dalla madre, vive con una coppia di zii. Per cercare di emanciparsi si fa assumere come assistente di scena da una compagnia teatrale. La ragazza è affascinata dall'attore e regista Meredith Potter, ma sarà un maturo commediante a farle perdere la verginità e a renderla consapevole della meschinità e dell'arroganza che dominano nell'ambiente teatrale
