Trama
Jerry Lundegaard gestisce una concessionaria di Oldsmobile e ha un impellente bisogno di denaro liquido. Escogita il rapimento della moglie per ottenere un cospicuo riscatto dal suocero ostile. Ingaggia due crudeli quanto incapaci malviventi che riescono a tramutare il dramma in tragedia. Sarà l'intervento di Marge Gunderson, capo della polizia locale, al settimo mese di gravidanza, a risolvere la situazione.
