Trama
Ulrich Mott è un tedesco che ha fatto fortuna negli Stati Uniti, prima sposando Elsa Brecht, celebre giornalista sua connazionale (che ha l'età per essere sua madre), poi facendosi un nome all'interno della comunità diplomatica di Washington D.C. Ulrich e Elsa abitano in una bella brownstone nel cuore del quartiere chic Georgetown, con grande disappunto della figlia della donna, Amanda, docente di Diritto costituzionale all'Università di Harvard in rotta con il "patrigno" suo coetaneo.
