Trama
Nick Kegan (Jeff Bridges), il rampollo di una potente famiglia americana, fa del suo meglio per cancellare dai ricordi l'ombra dell'omicidio del fratello maggiore, ex presidente degli Stati Uniti. Mentre lavora in un impianto petrolifero, Nick fa la conoscenza di un distinto gentiluomo, gravemente ammalato, che gli confessa di essere il secondo assassino del fratello. Riaprendo una ferita mai ricucita, Nick viene spinto dalla curiosità a scavare in quello che per tutti è un caso chiuso giungendo a una nuova e inaspettata verità.
