Trama
Verso la fine della seconda guerra mondiale, il generale Dietrich von Choltitz riceve l'ordine di bruciare Parigi se divenisse chiaro che gli alleati stessero per invadere, o se non si potesse mantenere il controllo della città. Dopo molte riflessioni, Choltitz decide di ignorare i suoi ordini, facendo infuriare i tedeschi e dando speranza a varie fazioni di resistenza che la città venisse liberata. Choltitz, insieme al diplomatico svedese Raoul Nordling, aiuta un leader della resistenza a organizzare le sue forze.
