Trama
Bernice Stamm e suo fratello Rudolph danno un party nella loro villa con piscina, dove tutti gli invitati si odiano. Sul tardi, tutti decidono di andare alla piscina, eccetto Rudolph, troppo ubriaco. Montague, fidanzato di Bernice, Greeff e Leland si tuffano, ma solo questi ultimi due escono fuori: Montague è scomparso. Leland ha dei sospetti e chiama la polizia. Casualmente Philo Vance si trova assieme al procuratore distrettuale quando arriva la chiamata, così si unisce ai poliziotti nelle ricerche di Montague, ma non si trova...
