Trama
Edgard Enders, erede di una ricca famiglia newyorkese, decide di investire il proprio denaro nella ristrutturazione di una fatiscente palazzina di Harlem. Gli inquilini di colore danno non pochi problemi al nuovo padrone bianco, ma lo scontro porterà Earl a subire la fascinazione di una comunità ricca di vita e di contraddizioni, molto diversa dal suo ambiente.
