Trama
Il sottobosco della Hollywood anni Trenta, visto attraverso gli occhi di Tod Hackett, un giovane scenografo che lavora sul set di un film profeticamente intitolato Waterloo: un ragioniere filosofo, innamorato di un attrice di terz'ordine, impazzirà, ucciderà un marmocchio e verrà linciato dalla folla. E Hackett vedrà il suo quadro sull'incendio di Los Angeles diventare reale.
