Trama
Lily Bart, giovane donna che viene portata alle stelle nell'alta società newyorchese, scopre che il suo fascino suscita gelosie e invidie. Allevata nel lusso dalla zia, Lily capisce che se non vuole abbassare il proprio tenore di vita deve fare un matrimonio di interesse. Diseredata dalla zia in seguito a un diverbio, sta per sposare un buon partito, ma il progetto crolla quando viene accusata ingiustamente di avere una relazione con un uomo sposato e viene respinta da tutti
